Can I view a live snap shot of the current project dollar total spent compared to the projects dollar estimate?

We issue an estimate to a customer, then the customer approves the estimate and pays us in full the project cost. We then track our hours against our estimate which we convert to a project. We are trying to see how much money we use against that project during the project and since we dont invoice them during the project it seems like there is now way to do this. Is that right? Let me rephrase. Will money from the project budget only be calculated after you generate an invoice?

    Hi Justin, I'm not in front of the code right now but I believe that's
    correct.

    You have to generate an invoice for your project to see useful numbers in
    the related project reports.

    I'd advise generating - but not sending that invoice. You will get your
    numbers but your customer won't see anything.

    Furthermore,

    If you're working that way - generate a _Deposit Invoice_ from your
    estimate, then create real invoices based on time as you work on the
    project.

    Payments made against a Deposit Invoice are held as credit, which Cashboard
    will automatically prompt you to apply to real invoices once they've been
    created.

    I have one more question.

    We track our expenses and mark them billable against our project. Our
    primary expense is travel. We include our travel costs in our estimates
    which we convert to a project. Our work time is tracked against the
    project. We mark our travel as an expense but the travel expense doesn't
    get factored into the current project expenditure correct? How do we need
    to track an item like travel? Just as a flat task? Thank you again for

    Expenses are factored into the "Project Cost vs Profit" report, under Home
    > Reports.
