is going to be my tool of choice going forward for managing
invoicing/expenses/time tracking.</p>
<p>I was a happy user of WHMCS for many years. It did a ton of
stuff, most of which I didn't need; hence my move to Cashboard.
However, there are a few things that I'd like to see that I'm not
seeing, or perhaps things I just don't know how to do.</p>
<p>But when I create an Invoice, it would be nice to have a
pre-defined invoice to choose from. This could be a product or
service I've setup. That has the appropriate pricing set, scheduled
reminders setup etc and also if it's recurring or not. If this
feature is there already, I'm not seeing it. But you can understand
how the ability to have an invoice template for your services would
be compelling and a time saver, I'd think.</p>
<p>Regarding time tracking. At a basic level the tools here do just
fine. I was an avid user of Freckle for a long time. Loved what it
did and how it reported on time entries, timesheets and what not.
Specifically, being able to tag my time entries for development,
troubleshooting etc, was really "nice." It was nice because I truly
got a feel for my time spent on projects and what items I was
spending lots of time on... So there's that, too.</p>
<p>Anyway, these are just a couple thoughts. As I said, I'm
impressed with the offering and have decided to make the
switch.</p>
<p>I'd be interested to know what you guys think...<br>

Glad to have you on board.
Let's see if I can clear some things up...</p>
<blockquote>
<p>But when I create an Invoice, it would be nice to have a
pre-defined invoice to choose from. This could be a product or
service I've setup.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>In Cashboard, any item that you create on an Estimate, Project,
or Invoice is automatically saved for you.</p>
<p>When you go to create new documents in the future, start typing
a title...you'll be presented with an auto-complete menu of all the
items you created previously.</p>
<p>If you select one, the information will be pre-filled with
prices, etc from the last created item with that title.</p>
<p>You can also import all items from any previously created
Estimate, Project & Invoice - allowing you to specify
"templates".</p>
<p>We don't currently have a "duplicate" feature, but I'm
considering that as well.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>That has the appropriate pricing set, scheduled reminders setup
etc and also if it's recurring or not.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Invoices are different from "Schedules" inside Cashboard.
Schedules are used only to determine <em>when</em> and <em>how</em>
to create invoices.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Specifically, being able to tag my time entries for development,
troubleshooting etc, was really "nice."</p>
</blockquote>
<p>You can use the time entry "notes" field to enter any text you
wish. To "report" on it later, use the "Advanced Search" button
under Timesheets > All Entries...</p>
<p>You can also quick-search your time entries by using the global
search box.</p>
<p>We don't have the concept of tagging, but this might get you
where you want.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Also, with regard to recurring invoices, it would be nice to
have a subscription created from these as well, rather than
something where the client has to manually pay each time.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Many customers have asked for this in the past, and it's
something we're considering with our new Stripe integration.</p>
<p>The difficulty is storing all of your customer's card
information in a secure, PCI compliant way. We now have the ability
to do this easily with Stripe - so we're planning accordingly.</p>
<p>Hope that helps!</p></div>Seth Btag:help.cashboardapp.com,2012-10-23:Comment/265345432013-04-23T20:56:44Z2013-04-23T20:56:44ZGeneral Suggestions About Time Tracking/Invoices as Products/<div><p>Hey Seth,<br>
Thanks for the great feedback!<br>
I actually did note the auto completion of previous invoices. So I
guess the strategy would be to use a common name in the future. But
you can see how there would be some benefit to creating/removing
these as-needed, right?</p>
<p>I'm also glad to hear about subscriptions coming along with
Stripe. Good news!</p>
<p>Thanks.</p></div>Alex Vasquez
