Export Invoices with line items
Hi,
I'm evaluating Cashboard for my business. So far, looking good. One need I have on occasion is to export my invoices with their line items. So for example, get a CSV that has each invoice line item as one row, with repeating invoice numbers for those invoices that have multiple line items. Any way to do that?

Hi Mike,
Let me first ask, what’s the reason for needing that? Perhaps there’s another way we can meet your needs.

My work consists of time-based line items, e.g. 30 m for email troubleshoot, 2.5 hrs of website work, etc. Sometimes I will work on something and forget to add it immediately to an invoice. So I need to reconcile periodically by exporting a list of line items from my invoicing software, and then go through my notebook where I have notes on what I did when (I do not always have my laptop with me when working, and my phone is too slow for data entry.)
Does that make sense? I could always open invoices online, one after the other, and inspect them for the reconcile, but it is much easier to just work with a big continuous list of recent line items.
I suppost I could do what I did with my old system, use the API to get a chunk of XML invoice data, then XLST transform it to get a table of line items, but I was really hoping to avoid that.

Hey Mike, thanks for the explanation. That does make sense, but unfortunately we don’t have an option to export invoice items with the invoices on our CSV file. You can certainly get that information out of the API, but I think that’s too much work for your use case.
Here’s another idea…when you’re offline - track your time in a CSV / Excel file, as outlined here:
http://help.cashboardapp.com/kb/misc/csv-data-import <http://help.cashboardapp.com/kb/misc/csv-data-import>
There’s a template for time tracking (TimeEntries.csv <http://cashboardapp.com/example_csv/time_entries.csv>) that will import perfectly into Cashboard. That way, you upload your work when you get online, and the reconciling all happens inside Cashboard.
I believe you’ll find doing that a bit more streamlined than the system you’ve currently got in place.
